Maruti Suzuki India has finally launched the 2nd gen Ertiga at a starting price of INR 7.44 lacs going all the way to INR 10.90 lacs for the top spec diesel variant.

The new Ertiga measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, 1,690 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,740 mm. Compared to the outgoing model, it is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 5 mm taller. Fuel tank capacity is 45 L while boot space is at 209 L expandable to 803 L.

The exterior gets a new chrome studded front grille, Halogen Projector headlights, redesigned 3D tail lamps, chrome door handles, rear wiper, alloy wheels and fog lamps. The new Ertiga is based on the Heartect platform that also forms the base for other Maruti cars in India like the Swift, Dzire, Ignis and Baleno making it lighter than the old model.

The interior in the new Ertiga has been completely redesigned and comes with beige upholstery and a dual-tone dashboard has faux wood trim bits. The car comes with a 3-spoke multi-function leather steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a central MID, 2nd and 3rd row seats with reclining seats.

The Ertiga Z+ top variants come equipped with Smart Play infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and navigation, rear parking sensors with camera, automatic climate control, rear air vents, chilled cup holders, push button start/stop, 15" alloy wheels, flat bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel and height adjustable driver’s seat.

On the safety front, it gets Dual airbags and ABS with EBD & BA, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX child mounts, reverse parking sensors, speed warning standard across all variants with along ESP and hill-hold function on the automatic variants. The 2018 Ertiga meets all the upcoming safety regulation requirements.

Powering the new Ertiga is the new petrol engine that powers the Ciaz and the existing diesel engine. The 1.5 L petrol engine makes 104 HP and 138 Nm of torque while the 1.3 L diesel engine produces 89 HP and 200 Nm of torque. Both the engine options are available with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The Ertiga automatic variant comes with a 4-speed automatic unit. The petrol engine comes with the new SHVS mild hybrid technology and the diesel carries on with the same SHVS tech for improved efficiency. The petrol engine gives an ARAI certified 19.34 kmpl with the manual transmission and 18.69 kmpl with the automatic while the diesel version gives 25.47 kmpl.

Color options include a new Pearl Metallic Auburn Red (New), Pearl Arctic White, Metallic Magma Grey, Metallic Silky Silver & Pearl Metallic Oxford Blue.
