Up until August 2018, Maruti never really had much luck competing with the sedans in the market like the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. That’s when they realised, what they needed in fact, was a facelift and not luck.

Without the facelift, all that the car tried to play was a ‘me too’ game that wasn’t great at anything in specific apart from fuel economy. In the first month of its launch, the new Ciaz has set a new sales record — beating rivals City and Verna by a huge margin.

Without any further ado, we present to you our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek.

Our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek is the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Getting Deeper

What is cool:

  1. A fresh front grille and new 16" alloys on offer.
  2. New 1.5L petrol engine with Smart Hybrid tech.
  3. Added Cruise Control. Hill Assist + ESP for automatic petrol variants only.
  4. Safety compliance — Frontal collision, side-impact collision and pedestrian impact.
  5. Speed Alert — Beep every minute after 80 Kmph. Continuous beep after 120 Kmph.

What’s not cool:

  1. Only two airbags as standard while rivals City and Verna have six.
  2. The automatic transmission is still a 4-speed box. Vento has a 7-speed DSG, Verna and Rapid have 6-speed Torque Converters.
  3. No sun-roof yet.
  4. Steering wheel heaviness at low speeds.
