Celerio, now in a Diesel avatar
Maruti Suzuki is set to unveil the Celerio with the DDiS 125 diesel engine on June 3rd 2015. The company claims the diesel burner, built entirely in-house, will be the most fuel-efficient mill in the country with returns of 27.62 kmpl rubber-stamped by ARAI.
Initially, the diesel Celerio will be offered with the 5-speed manual transmission but expect the popular AMT to be introduced at a later stage.
Engine Specs
The Celerio Diesel comes with a 793 cc, 2-cylinder unit, which produces 47.6 PS at 3,500 rpm and has a max torque output of 125 Nm, accessible at 2,000 rpm. The engine is a feather light at 89 kg, making it the lightest engine in the segment.
The Celerio Diesel will be available in four variants – LDi, VDi, ZDi, ZDi (O) — and even though prices are yet to be revealed, expect it to cost sub-one lakh rupees more than its petrol siblings.
