Datsun India has launched the AMT version of its redi-GO hatchback in the country at a starting price of Rs. 3.80 Lakh, making it the cheapest automatic car in the market today.

The redi-GO AMT is powered by the same 1.0 Litre engine found on the Renault Kwid and the 2017 redi-GO and produces 67hp and a peak torque of 91Nm. Mated to the engine is a 5-speed AMT gearbox with dual driving mode that allows the driver to switch between manual and automated modes in situations where more torque is required, such as up-hill driving conditions. The gearbox also features the “Rush Hour Mode” that allows the car to maintain a cruising speed of 5–6 kmph in peak traffic conditions.

On the inside, the only major change is the addition of Bluetooth capability to the audio system. The redi-GO AMT even maintains the same exteriors and color options as that of the manual version.

Given the competitive pricing, the redi-GO AMT could prove to be very popular amongst city folks looking for an inexpensive and practical car for their daily commute.

The redi-GO AMT will come in two variants, T(O), available at Rs. 3,80,600 and S, priced at Rs. 3,95,505 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
