Datsun India has announced its plans to launch the AMT version of it’s entry-level hatchback, the redi-GO, in January 2018. The 5-speed AMT gearbox will be exclusively available with the 1.0L engine powering the redi-GO. The 0.8L option, on the other hand, will retain the existing 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 1.0L engine powering the 2018 redi-GO AMT is the same one used in the 2016 Renault Kwid and the 2017 redi-GO and churns out 67bhp and develops a peak torque of 91Nm. Datsun has yet to confirm whether the AMT will come with a rotary gear knob similar to the Kwid or a traditional shift stick.

Transmission aside, Datsun is unlikely to change much else from the 2017 redi-GO. The AMT redi-GO is likely to be priced Rs.30,000 higher than it’s manual counterpart. Prices are expected to range from Rs. 3.9 Lakh to Rs. 4.1 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
