Mahindra Alturas G4 launched in India
Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the Alturas G4 has been launched at a starting price of INR 26.95 lacs. It comes in two variants a 4x2 and a 4x4 variant with the 4x4 variant costing INR 29.95 lacs.
It is essentially a re-badged SsangYong Rexton G4 with a few changes on the exterior and interior to distinguish between the two. Mahindra imports the Alturas G4 via the CKD route to sell in India. The Alturas G4 measures 4850 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, 1825 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2865 mm and a ground clearance of 244 mm riding on 18" diamond cut alloy wheels. The Alturas G4 can seat 7 people.
The Alturas G4 gets a black grille with chrome inserts and a dual-tone bumper. It also gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps and fog lamps. The 4x4 gets HID headlamps and LED fog lamps with cornering function. It comes with Body Colored Door Handles With Chrome Inserts, chrome window surrounds, Door Handle LED lamps for Driver & Co-Driver, Heated ORVMs With LED Side Indicators (with auto tilt in 4x4 variant), front and rear parking sensors.
On the inside, the Alturas G4 gets Dual Tone Quilted Nappa Leather Interiors, The dashboard gets finish in premium wood trim and houses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a 6 speaker audio system. It comes with a multi-function steering wheel with audio controls and cruise control and a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster in mono for the 4x2 and color for the 4x4 variant. The SUV also gets an 8 way adjustable driver seat with memory function, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with vents in 2nd and 3rd rows, electric sunroof with anti pinch, 3D 360* surround view camera, smart tailgate, Auto head lights and auto wipers, TPMS, ambient lighting.
On the safety front, it gets features such as 9 airbags (only 2 on the 4x2 variant), ABS with EBD and BA, ESP, TCS, ARP, hill start assist, hill descent control, and ISOFIX child safety seat anchor points.
Powering the Alturas G4 is a 2.2 L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 178 BHP and 420 Nm of torque mated to a Mercedes Benz sourced 7-speed automatic transmission. The Alturas G4 gets ventilated disc brakes on all wheels. The 4x2 variant sends power to the rear wheels while the 4x4 gets distributed to all the 4 wheels.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes in 5 colors — Regal Blue, New Pearl White, Lakeside Brown, Napoli Black & Drizzle Silver.
