Mahindra has announced that the Mahindra S201 compact SUV has been named the XUV300. The Ssangyong Tivoli based SUV has been on test for a while in India and the launch will take place in February 2019. The XUV300 is Mahindra’s answer to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport in the sub 4 m compact SUV space.

The exterior styling inspiration is taken from aesthetics of the XUV500. At the front, it gets the Mahindra’s signature chrome grille with slats, triple-pod projector headlamps and integrated V-shaped LED DRLs that connects to the front fog lamps below in the dual tone bumper that also gets a silver scuff plate. The Cheetah inspired SUV gets blacked out pillars, ORVMs with turn indicators, 17” alloy wheels, rear wiper, wraparound LED tail lamps, dual tone bumper with faux skid plate, roof rails and a roof-mounted spoiler with stop lamp.

The interior derives its styling from the Tivoli featuring a dual tone interior and a centrally located touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rotary controller and a backlit display for the AC control, 3 spoke multi function steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a monochrome MID.

The Mahindra XUV300 gets many segment first features such as ABD with EBD & BA, SOFIX child seats, all wheel disc brakes, dual zone automatic climate control, seven airbags, electric sun roof and front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera.

The XUV300 will be available with both petrol and diesel engine though the exact specifications of the engines options are not available now. Mahindra is also planning to introduce 2 electric versions of the SUV by mid 2020.
