The upcoming SUV from Mahindra, codenamded: Y400, has got its market name finally. Mahindra will be calling this G4 SsangYong Rexton based SUV as ALTURAS (which means ‘heights’). The Alturas’ design is similar to that of the new Rexton and it features a body-on-frame construction.

This new SUV could be available in 2 variants — G2 with 2WD (base) and G4 with 4WD. It features 7-slat grille on the front, projector headlamps, wraparound tail lights and dual-tone bumpers.

Features offered in this SUV might include like sunroof, leather upholstery, ventilated seats with memory function, infotainment system and electronic parking brake.

Mahindra could be offering this the Alturas with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, capable of producing 180 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. This engine comes paired with a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic. A manual transmission option is out of the question as of now.

The Alturas will be competing against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X. Reports suggest that The Alturas will be introduced in India on 24th November, 2018.
