Mercedes-Benz introduces India’s first BS-VI compliant cars
Mercedes-Benz, India’s largest luxury carmaker by volume, became the first manufacturer to introduce BS-VI compliant vehicles, “made in India, for India”. The new BS-VI compliant Petrol engine will be featured in the Mercedes-Maybach S 560, while the Diesel will come along with the new S-Class launching later this year.
The Certificate of Compliance to the CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rule) was presented to Mercedes-Benz India CEO, Roland Folger by ARAI Director, Rashmi Urdhwareshe in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

Having undergone stringent testing at ARAI’s facility in Pune to win the BS-VI certification, Mercedes’ also claim to have achieved a drastic reduction in Particulate Matter (PM) and NOx emissions, thereby reducing the gap between Petrol and Diesel engine emissions.
Mercedes’ new six-cylinder Diesel engine features a range of technology to achieve efficient emissions reduction, including a new stepped-bowl combustion process, dynamic multi-way exhaust-gas recirculation and near-engine exhaust-gas treatment combined with the use of CAMTRONIC variable valve-lift control.
