Mercedes-Benz has launched a facelifted version of its flagship S-Class luxury sedan in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.33 Crore (ex-showroom). The S-Class facelift is India’s first BS-VI compliant vehicle and features a number of exterior and interior tweaks.

The biggest changes to the S-Class are in the engine lineup. Powering the S 350 d is a new 3.0 Litre, in-line, six cylinder diesel engine replacing the 3.0 Litre, V6 diesel engine on the outgoing model. The ‘OM 656’ engine on the new S 350 d, running on BS-IV fuel, produces 286 hp and 600 Nm and is compliant with BS-VI regulations, producing 68% less nitrous oxide and 82% less particulate matter. The S 450 on the other hand is powered by a 3.0 Litre, V6, twin-turbo petrol engine producing 367 hp and 500 Nm.

Externally, the S-Class sees only minor updates in the form of new LED headlamps, tail lamps, modified bumpers and 5-twin-spoke 18" alloy wheels. On the inside, the new S-Class gets a new 12.3" horizontal touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, panoramic sliding sunroof with obstruction sensor, a new multi-function steering wheel, electrically operated roller sunblinds for the rear windows, a choice of six interior fragrances and ambient lighting with 64 different color options.

The new S-Class also comes equipped with the latest in driving assistance technology including a new radar-based driving assistant system, Active Braking Assist, Active Steering Assist and Active Distance Assist, all aimed at ensuring a safe, but comfortable drive.

The new S 350 d starts at Rs. 1.33 Crore (ex-showroom) while the S 450 starts at Rs. 1.37 Crore (ex-showroom).
