The next generation Hyundai Verna was launched at Chengdu motor show in china earlier this week,It can be clearly seen that it is based on the concept car unveiled at the Beijing motor show in April 2016 and is expected to hit the roads in late 2017 in India.

Hyundai are likely to introduce the mild hybrid technology with the next gen Verna to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS in India. However the hybrid technology provides electrical assistance only during acceleration and cannot power the engine independently. It comes with automatic engine start/stop option and Brake energy regeneration technology which might boost fuel efficiency by a minimal value.

Its indeed a wise move from Hyundai anticipating the future market for hybrid cars in India.
