Volvo has announced that it won’t be launching any new model with a sole ICE (internal combustion engine) as the propulsion source. Only electric and hybrid vehicles will be launched from 2019 by the company.

New models to be launched by the company will be categorized in 3 major categories — All-electric, Plug-in hybrid and Mild hybrid. Between the year 2019 & 2021, the company plans to launch 5 all-electric vehicles, out of which 3 will be under Volvo’s name and the other 2 under the Polestar brand.

Volvo will also be launching petrol & diesel plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid 48-volt options on all the models. This announcement forms part of the company’s plans to sell 1 million units of electric cars by 2025. Volvo is also changing it’s manufacturing operations to make them climate neutral by 2025.
