As markets evolve every day to accept more kinds of cars, it’s only normal for companies to continuously upgrade their vehicles to compete with their longstanding rivals, especially in the SUV crossover segment.

Our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek struggled initially to try and lock horns with its competitors such as the Hyundai Creta so much that the car was launched merely a day after the Creta only to make drastic pricing reductions. To add to their goodwill, the OEM decided to refund the additional cost to the early buyers as well.

Just when people thought it was too late, the 2017 facelift brought about some much-needed design cues and feature upgrades to put it back on the map and it seems like they just might have found their sweet spot and it sure was worth the wait.

Our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek is the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift

Getting Deeper

What is cool:

  1. Powered by a 1.3L, 4-cylinder diesel engine offers a good amount of thrill.
  2. Fuel economy advantage with Maruti.
  3. The rear has a lot of space to offer, being graciously spacious.
  4. Undercuts the Creta’s pricing by a good margin.

What’s not cool:

  1. No 1.6L diesel option offered.
  2. Automatic transmission and a petrol engine aren’t available.
  3. The alpha variant is obnoxiously priced.
  4. Definitely needs a performance upgrade.
  5. Appeals mainly only to Maruti lovers.
