To have a vehicle which is similar to the Chevy Trailblazer, not sold today in Indian markets and still leave a distinct trail is a big deal.

Our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek goes by the tagline “All muscle. All heart” which gives a hint as to how the car looks like an offroader on the outside and a seven seater family car on the inside, hence providing the driver with raw offroading capabilities for the best journeys while not sacrificing on ultimate family comfort. This way, there’s no need to choose between what your family needs and what your heart desires, giving you the best of both worlds.

For all the engineering enthusiasts out there, here’s a clue: the name of the car is a short form for an electrical signal converting device, the multiplexer.

Our #CarPalCarOfTheWeek is the Isuzu MU-X

Getting Deeper

What is cool:

  1. Extremely good value for money, especially being made by the trustworthy Isuzu.
  2. Generous with space with a wheelbase of 2845mm which is just 5mm short of the Endeavour’s but an entire 100mm longer than the Toyota Fortuner.
  3. 3.0L 175HP diesel engine is a gem to drive.
  4. Gets shift-on-the-fly 4WD and a low ratio gearbox for adventure seekers willing to get their hands dirty.

What’s not cool:

  1. 5-speed automatic transmission(AT) can seem quite slow, especially if you are upgrading from a sedan or a hatchback.
  2. Hydraulic Power Steering provides feedback but is not as convenient in small, narrow roads and taking U-turns can be painful.
  3. Interiors look sporty and stylish but uses sub-standard plastic.
  4. Every other SUV in the range comes with a minimum of 4/6 airbags while the MU-X offers only 2.
