The Volkswagen Group, led by by the Skoda in India will invest more than 1 Billion Euros (~ INR 7,900 Crores) in India for its vision India 2.0, the next generation of products for both Volkswagen India and Skoda India.

The MQB A0 global platform will be redeveloped locally for India that has been labelled MQB A0 IN. The first product under this platform will be based on the Skoda Vision X concept that will be developed and will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster/Captur. It is likely to be unveiled by 2020 and will go on sale from 2021.

Volkswagen India could also launch its small SUV, the T-Cross in India alongside Skoda’s Vision X SUV. This will also be based on the MQB A0 IN platform

The two companies hope to localize the products heavily thereby pricing the products competitively. The MQB A0 IN platform is already ready for the new emission regulations and safety standards and is the most intelligent platform, that is available on a worldwide scale.

Volkswagen is likely to concentrate on the mid size SUV and sedan segment at the beginning in 2020–21 before moving on to small size segment such as the Polo in 2022 post the launch of the SUV. With this new goal, Volkswagen and Skoda hope to reach 5% of the market share in India.
