Volvo launches new XC60 SUV in India

Swedish luxury car maker Volvo, has launched the updated version of it’s XC60 SUV in India at a price of Rs. 55.90 Lakh (ex-showroom). The new car will be available only in a single, fully-equipped trim with the D5 Inscription.

Powering the new XC60 is a 2.0 Litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 235hp and 480Nm of torque. Mated to the engine is an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission system that delivers the power to all four wheels. While there is no official confirmation from Volvo, India could see a petrol version of the car in the near future.

The 2017 XC60 is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, introduced on the range-topping 90 series in recent years. Visually, the XC60 borrows several design elements from Volvo’s flagship XC90 SUV and features Volvo’s signature multi-slat chrome grille, Thor’s Hammer LED Head lights, vertically stacked tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and sport 19" alloy wheels. Volvo will offer four exterior paint options and three color options for the Nappa leather upholstery on the inside.

The feature-rich XC60 comes with a 9" touchscreen infotainment system, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, ventilated front seats with massage function, 360-degree parking system and a heads up display. The car also comes with equipped with a range of radar-based driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise-control, semi-automatic parking, blind spot assist and oncoming traffic mitigation.

With its updated design and generous offering of the latest tech and features at a competitive price, the XC60 is well positioned to put up a fight with the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the BMW X3.
