Volvo XC40 launched in India

Volvo India has launched its smallest SUV in the country. The XC40 is Volvo’s first car to be based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform co-developed jointly by Volvo and Geely. It is available in only in one variant, the R-Design and is diesel powered.

The Volvo XC40 measures 4425 mm in length, 1863 in width,1652 mm in height, 2702 mm wheelbase and offers a ground clearance of 211 mm(unladen). The car is powered by a 2.0 L 4-cylinder diesel engine churning 190 HP and 400 Nm of torque sending power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The exterior features an upright front blacked out grille flanked by LED headlights and Thor’s hammer T-shaped LED DRLs. It has a blacked out air dam with blacked out fog lamps on either side. The SUV’s comes with black roof & blacked-out A and B-pillars. Coming to the rear, it gets L-shaped LED tail lights, integrated roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper. The XC40 rides on 18" Alloy Wheels.

On the inside, the XC40 gets black leather interiors with lava orange inserts and faux-wood trim. It has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 600W 13-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, 2-zone climate control, heated front & rear seats and electric tail gate for convenience.

As with Volvo, the XC40 comes loaded with full advanced safety kit such as Volvo’s City Safety with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, on-coming lane mitigation, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Driver alerts, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist pilot, emergency braking, Run-off road Mitigation, ESP, Traction Control, hill start & hill descent control and 7 airbags.

The Volvo XC40 is available only in 3 color options — Crystal White, Bursting Blue and Passion Red and is being offered at an introductory pricing of INR 39.90 lacs (ex-showroom India).
