The 80/20 rule, also known as the Pareto principle, has been used to explain how systems work throughout history.

It’s named after an Italian economist named Vilfredo Pareto, who observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.

He concluded that many systems, including economic ones, follow the same pattern where 20% of the factors lead to 80% of the results.

The UN Development Program highlighted in 1992 that 80% of world wealth was held by 20% of the population.

The Pareto Principle applies to different aspects of our lives.

The Pareto Principle or 80/20 rule says that roughly 80% of our effects come from 20% of our efforts.

When it comes to productivity, a small number of things provide an outsized portion of our value.

This is excellent news because it allows us to get more done while spending less time on distractions and less important tasks.

In short, to make your work more efficient and effective, it’s a good idea to evaluate where you’re spending most of your time versus where you can do things…
