Next Generation Tabs — Easier to use in the new Confluence editor
Over the last 6 months, Atlassian have been making exciting improvements to the editing experience in Confluence Cloud. Based on customer feedback, these include a cleaner toolbar, in-context image and table toolbars, readability improvements and emojis! 🙌🎉 Atlassian’s new editor is gradually rolling out to Confluence customers.
In line with Atlassian’s new editing experience, we have been making improvements to the Tabs and Expand macros available in Macro Toolbox. These improvements ensure the macros are compatible with Atlassian’s changes and make the macros even easier to use.
The Next Generation of Tabs Macros
Previously, to organize Confluence content into tabs Macro Toolbox used a Tabs Control macro and a Tabs Panel macro. The Tabs Control macro added the space where the tabs will appear, and the Tabs Panel macro added an individual tab that contains content.
We’re excited to launch the next generation of Tabs Macros with a more intuitive editing experience. Creating tabs follows the same pattern, but Tabs Panel (Beta) macros are displayed as tabs in the editor instead of empty boxes, so you know exactly where your content is going before publishing the page.
For more information on Tabs and Macro Toolbox, check out our documentation.
The Tabs Panel (Beta) macro is now available and replaces the existing Tabs Panel in the new editing experience for Confluence. The existing Tabs Panel macro will continue to work in existing pages and blogs until Atlassian phases out the existing editing experience. Visit the Confluence Editing Improvements documentation to keep up to date with the changes.
