It’s a new year and I’m looking at it as a fresh start. It’s a chance to wipe the slate clean and decide, from this point on, how do I want to approach things?

I am choosing to leave negativity in my rearview mirror. That means I need to shift my mindset from one of “that’s not going to work” to “how can I make this work?”

The year started off with me having to wake up hours earlier than I should have. As soon as the thought crossed my mind I shook my head. Nope. I get to wake up early and see my grandson’s beautiful smile and hear his precious giggle.

Changing your mindset takes practice and intentionality. Sometimes for me it seems silly, but until it becomes a habit I have to stop and switch it up. “I have to go to work” becomes “I am so grateful to have a car and the job to make money so I can help feed my family”.

One of the things I am doing daily is journaling. I start each day with a motivational quote that speaks to me, and something I am grateful for. I have some mornings where this is easy, and some that I really have to sit there and dig deep.

I am also staying away from anything with negative vibes, or anything that might bring me down. The videos that might bring tears to your eyes? Nope…
