Having a good coffee helps the thinking process, don’t you think? This one was sipped in Strasbourg, France

Sitting here at High Grounds Cafe in Baltimore, sipping at a soul-reviving latte, munching on a gooey egg and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich, and watching other coffee shop lovers moving about, I start thinking about Tom Hanks.

Tom Hanks is passionate about acting. Can’t argue with that.

A lot of people have a passion for acting though, and so it’s worthwhile to ask, is passion alone enough?

In interviews, Tom Hanks often recites the following quote by Spencer Tracy:

“Learn the lines. Hit the marks. Tell the truth. That’s all you can do.”

Just think about it. Forest Gump, Jimmy Dugan, Chuck Noland, Andrew Beckett, Larry Crowne, Walt Disney, Colonel Tom Parker and so many numerous others. A purpose for telling the truth through acting has served Tom Hanks well as he just seems to have the ability to mold himself into every character they throw at him and make it ring true. His authentic emotions become our emotions.

Can we chalk this up to some natural-born talent or is it just a great ability to tell the truth?
