How to Find Your Ikigai in Three Steps
Simplifying the Japanese secret for happiness and longevity
Ikigai is not your 9-to-5 job, guys! It is the Japanese spiritual concept of finding the purpose of life. A spontaneous activity, guided by one’s inner self, leads to perpetual happiness and wellness. It is not a forced activity.
Like most of you, I also came upon the concept of Ikigai from the bestseller ‘Ikigai ’by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia. It took me a few years to understand this simple practice.
Here, I am breaking the three core principles of Ikigai into three simple steps :
1. Wake up with a purpose.
You happily wake up daily with a deep feeling of purpose, and you can’t wait to go out and do it.
This may not be like your regular job, which leaves you drained at the end of the day!
This has nothing to do with job hierarchies. A CEO of a multinational company may not have found his Ikigai yet! But a wayside teashop guy must be experiencing the fullness of finding his purpose. It is all about how positive you feel day after day doing this work, which you consider the main reason for waking up daily.
