Humility is your superpower
Our world has become swept up in the current of competition and comparison creating a culture of one-upping and tearing other people down.
Things like social media have caused this behaviour to spread like wildfire.
All you have to do is log into Instagram and you will see an abundance of people with flashy cars and on fancy holidays somewhere on a yacht (why is there always a yacht?) living their best lives, which is great don’t get me wrong. You do you.
It’s just that with many people consuming that type of content on a regular basis, it creates a feeling of inadequacy in people who aren’t living that life and causes a negative impact on their mental health.
This isn’t just limited to social media though I see examples of this in my day-to-day life too.
I remember when I was studying for exams and my aunt insisted that her son was studying longer or harder. Or when my cousins would talk up their jobs to try to make us feel like they were better than us.
As much as things like this used to get on my nerves, I learned to not engage.
