The term “Miracle March” comes from March 1991 when California was “experiencing the worst drought since the Dust Bowl” and Lake Tahoe was at a record low, according to Tahoe Mountain Lodging. Then, it began snowing March 1, and Lake Tahoe’s snowpack increased from 17% of average to 73% by the end of the month.

The winter of 2022/23 was amazing. We had snow and hail off and on from November to June. A long winter season for the eastern slope of the Sierras. This winter has been ‘meh’, only a few snow storms.

Our street at the edge of the city even got plowed. That’s a first. Usually we don’t fit in their save-money-for-a-sunny-day budget. A neighbor with an excavation business did it. He passed away last year. 🙏🏽

The atmospheric river that hit California last week brought us high winds, heavy rain and two days of snow.

The Russian Olive trees on the terrace create an optical illusion, making it look as though the fence is leaning.
