A SHOVEL
Truth of Wisdom
When We Realize How Little We Understand
True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.
~Socrates
Life’s a wild ride, isn’t it? Isn’t that TRUE.
Chasing clues, street-smart murmurs in alleyways, WISDOM
Hit you when you’re lost, COMES
Unexpected, like rain in summer. TO
See beyond the grind, to EACH
The nature of being reveals itself OF
Continuous flow of moments, fleeting, listen to US.
Us, drifting through chaos, and WHEN
Stars align, our minds crack open, WE
See through the haze, REALIZE
How tangled it all is, ah! HOW
The answers slip away, LITTLE
by little. Glimpses of eternal questions that shape us, WE
Piece together what we UNDERSTAND.
A jigsaw of midnight thoughts ABOUT
the essence of LIFE,
questioning the self, OURSELVES,
the nature of existence, AND THE
pondering the purpose of the WORLD.
Reflecting on the cycles AROUND
us, always facing the mystery of US.

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem. Did you notice something intriguing? If not, consider the last word of each line. True, wisdom, comes, to, each, of, us, when, we, realize, how, little, we, understand, about, life, ourselves, and, the, world, around, us. This sequence is the same quote you saw at the beginning. This concept isn’t entirely my own, it was inspired by Janaka Stagnaro, Bobbie Isabel and Harrison Dear. Thank you for sharing this brilliant idea.
I first came across the concept of shovel poetry in one of Janaka Stagnaro’s stories. Special thanks to him for the inspiration. I really loved your poem and found it to be very intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this style. Each moment I focused on it, your work was continually on my mind as I wrote. Thank you so much again.
