My awe and wonderment at the beauty of nature started when I beheld a tiny rosebud. Like other deciduous trees, this rose tree was leafless the whole winter.

As the freezing weather got slightly tamed by the approaching spring, the tiniest leaf buds started to sprout. And they sprouted. And sprouted many hundred times more.

I thought it was magic. The rose tree came alive. The leaves were quickly followed by a healthy burst of flower buds.

I just love this rose tree that gives blooms profusely all summer and until early autumn.

It’s not as if I was forever living in a concrete jungle, no greeneries nor flowers to scent the mood nor the air. No, not at all. I grew up in a house in the Philippines that was surrounded by trees.

Did I appreciate all those, you might ask. My answer was no. I was young, my head forever in books, studying, reading, writing.
