What may seem like a small win in life can feel so damn good.
For the past few months, I took some time off. I needed to heal.
Yes, I still wrote daily, but only a paragraph or two in my journal. I won’t tell you that I didn’t feel guilty, I did. I wanted to work. It turned out, that my break was a bit of a breakthrough.
But hey sometimes, a needed win in life can bring joy and peace at the right moment. That win may not solve the problem entirely, but the impact can feel absolutely wonderful to you.
After years of battling what felt like one health challenge after another — anemia that left me perpetually exhausted, asthma that made every season a trial, and endometriosis with the chaos that is perimenopause— I thought I’d learned to roll with the punches. Make a green smoothie, go for a walk, take time to smell the roses, and in the words of Kendrick Lamar:
“We gon be alright.”
Eating healthier had shrunk my fibroids and despite some weight gain. I felt better.
But getting COVID twice changed everything.
My already fragile immune system struggled to recover, and the tipping point came in the form of severe edema. My body swelled up, seemingly out of nowhere, holding onto…
