When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to become a grown-up, to have all the privileges and freedom I desired. Now here I am, still growing up and yet, I longed for that little girl I once was.

I had always thought adulthood to be all about freedom, staying up late, eating what I want, and not having to listen to anyone, but now that I'm getting there, it seems like I have to pay the price to fully enjoy that freedom.

Growing up is about getting older?
Yeah.
But that’s not all.

It’s also every single thing you face along the way. Those moments when you have to make tough choices, deal with those people who let you down, and figure out who exactly you really are.

It’s facing life head-on, even when it’s scary or confusing.

There's really a lot to take to grow up. Honestly, a lot of patience, resilience, and also accepting that mistakes are part of the journey.

No one really knows what they're doing all the time, but you do them anyway and that's okay.

You learn as you go, sometimes the hard way.

Then there are responsibilities too. You have to pay bills, show up at work on time, make choices, take care of yourselves and even others sometimes.

It’s really a lot to handle.

But still, it gives your life meaning and direction.

You ask yourself, "Am I doing this right?"
"Is this the right way?"
"How does everybody else manage?"

The truth is, nobody has all the answers.

This thing called "adulthood" is full of ups and downs, unexpected turns, and a whole lot of learning. It's tough but it's also where you get to find out what you're really made of.

Yeah, I know.

I can't go back to being that little girl that I was, but I can make the journey into adulthood worthwhile.

We all can.
