Grief is universal, yet everyone experiences it in different ways. It’s also a largely misunderstood aspect of life. What’s certain is that, at one point or another, we must all go through it. Did you know there are 16 different types of grief?

Since, there are many forms of grief; understanding the differences is key to being able to move through the process in a healthy way. Yes, grieving is a process! One of the healthiest ways to deal with grief is by acknowledging it in the first place. Opting not to deal with it can have a long-term, negative impact on your life.

It’s important to always ask yourself, concerning the death of the person, these questions: What is the relationship of the deceased person to you? Was it sudden or expected? Is the death widely known? When did they die? How did they die? Are you directly affected by the death? Are these effects wide-reaching? The answers to these questions all factor into the types of grief you experience.
