I recently went to an MUN hosted by my school’s main campus. This was actually my second time going, so I definitely did have a bit more experience. I was a part of the committee United Nations Human Rights Council, being the delegate of the country of China. It was a three-day event, consisting of nine 1.5-hour committee sessions.

Now, suppose you don’t know what a MUN is. In that case, it is a Model United Nations, wherein people come together in a committee, representing or being a delegate of a certain country, and discussing the agenda (a topic), with the perspective of your country. Or, in short, the whole thing would be modeled after the actual UN.

I would highly rate it though. MUNs, or any public speaking events, because it can very easily help your confidence. It helps anyone who is nervous or scared. If you would like to have more advice on speaking, I’d recommend you check out Vinh Giang. However, what I was most surprised by was the sheer amount of speech-making we had to do on the spot. It really helped my writing skills, and ability to do something on the spot.

I’d recommend you join a MUN, of which there are free ones, paid ones, online ones, and IRL ones. It’s massively helpful and also helps us understand how the UN works.
