The Power of Perspective
Life Lesson: Don’t Scratch Your Wounds, Let them Burn.
It was evening time, Today my father came early from work. When my father returns home from work, I often make small talk with my father and mother while sipping warm and cozy tea in our courtyard.
We enjoy the evening with a cup of tea, with small family talks, and listen to the sweet chutters of kids playing in the open ground right outside.
My mother came with tea and a pack of biscuits. Today it was a perfect evening teatime, with a refreshing tea and playful chutters of kids.
Suddenly, a bothersome sound becomes audible to us. At first, we ignored but the loudness of the sound became more inconvenient.
The sound emanates from beyond the courtyard wall. I quickly keep my teacup and walk towards the wall to inspect the issue.
A dog has a skin infection, restlessly scratching his body and emitting poignant sounds of distress.
I picked up a small stone and threw it near to him, taking care that the stone abstained from hitting him as well as he managed to cease scratching the wounds and concentrate on some other activity.
But that positive motive of mine could not be accomplished, instead, he went a short distance and started scratching his wounds again.
I was wondering for some time why he was hurting himself by scratching his wounds, were his wounds so painful that they were manipulating his consciousness and making him do such things?
Has the brief respite from scratching corrupted his consciousness?
Is his consciousness not able to even think that scratching so much will lead to his wounds being more rigorous?
It’s a perspective of life that I revised from this dog.
Life is a Journey loaded with ups and downs, and during the journey, we face numerous small problems that can often seem like minor setbacks. However, it totally depends on our perspective and approach to those small problems that can make all the difference.
Considering the larger picture of life, these minor issues are just blips on the radar, resulting in minimal discomfort. Still, there’s a valuable lesson to be learned from how we choose them.
When we scratch those minor problems rigorously to consume our augmented thoughts and energy, magnifying them into significant sources of stress, we unknowingly grant them the power to shape our overall well-being.
Considering the analogy of a dog, those minor wounds can transform into a persistent disease that can overshadow his entire life. Similarly, when we focus too much on the minor problems in our lives, we risk turning them into mountains that can bear a menacing aura over our happiness.
The key to navigating life’s challenges with grace lies in our ability to maintain perspective. Instead of letting these minor problems dictate our feelings and mindset, we should approach them with resilience and a sense of proportion.
A “Hyper-Realist” approach to life: Where a person accepts the situation as it is and prepares to deal with it accordingly. In this manner, we can prevent them from overshadowing the more significant aspects of our lives.
In essence, the perfect evening tea has come with a clear life lesson: don’t let the minor problems become big or I can say “Don’t scratch your wounds, let them burn.” Setting up priorities and positive patience cultivate a mindset that allows us to tackle life challenges and vitalize our journey toward a fulfilling and meaningful life.
