GoodDollar’s Roadmap to a Community-Driven Future on Celo

If you’ve kept up with us lately, you may have heard that GoodDollar has expanded the protocol into the Celo ecosystem. If not, don’t worry; we’ll catch you up to speed.
In early March of this year, GoodDollar received a grant to deploy the protocol on Celo — marking a massive milestone for the GoodDollar ecosystem. After receiving overwhelming support from the GoodDAO, the work begins to deploy the protocol on Celo. To date, G$ UBI distribution is active on Celo, and claiming on Celo is available through GoodDapp and GoodWallet. The team has worked hard to begin to integrate GoodDollar with all of the great dapps that exist on Celo — enabling our 500,000+ person community with many dapps to explore Web3. More to come on this!
To top it all off, GoodDollar is the fastest-growing project on Celo, with nearly 80,000 monthly active users! Partnerships, Grants, and More UBI
GoodDollar is committed to broadening global economic inclusivity and availability. To maximize our reach and impact, we continually search for new ways to grow. Our partnership with Celo was a seamless fit driven by value alignment and a mission-first approach to decentralized finance (DeFi). This alliance symbolizes a collective step toward a diverse, inclusive, community-driven future in the Celo ecosystem.
GoodDollar received a generous grant from the Celo Foundation, enabling us to extend our ability to create a positive impact. Over 80% of the grant is allocated to fund GoodDollar UBI via being directed to GoodReserve to fund the creation of G$ UBI. Since GoodDollar is a circular economy, supporting the protocol increases the G$ available for distribution and circulation among the GoodDollar community.
When circulation increases, so does the adoption of blockchain and, subsequently, the GoodDollar ecosystem on Celo. This vast and accessible distribution of free UBI leads to increased backing for community education initiatives, bounties to build software and integration of G$ onto Celo dapps and solutions.

We’re excited to announce that a portion of funds will go towards GoodDollar’s first community grant program, the Prosperity Grants Program. A joint initiative between team members across Celo and GoodDollar, the G$ Prosperity Program is committed to supporting communities’ growth through blockchain education, endeavors, and availability.
This program is how we enable GoodDollar adoption to be led by the community members themselves. The Celo and GoodDollar Prosperity Program will provide G$ grants to help individuals and organizations build out their innovative concepts for GoodDollar. Introducing the Prosperity Program
Celo and GoodDollar share a mission focused on advancing financial inclusion and enabling money to flow to the people and places where it is needed most. The Prosperity Program is to use GoodDollar to advance initiatives that further financial education and empowerment, both on and offline.
This means enabling greater utility for GoodDollar in the Web3 digital world by enabling people to use G$ in dapps and applications. But the grant program is designed to support initiatives to empower the usage of GoodDollar protocol offline, in the real world, as well — empowering microentrepreneurs and community leaders to expand economic impact.
All mission-aligned individuals, projects, and dapps are encouraged to think up ideas and apply!
Inspiration for projects could include:
- Forming a local web3 educational community around GoodDollar and DeFi
- Developing a local store that accepts G$ as a means of payment
