What’s on the Horizon
There’s so much to look forward to! Here are some things that we’re excited about for this month and beyond.
1. Catch GoodDollar in Gitcoin Grants 19 (GG19)
Get ready as GoodDollar gears up to participate in the upcoming Gitcoin Grants 19 (GG19) happening from November 15th – 29th.
If you’re just joining us, here’s a quick brief on how this works.
Gitcoin Grants runs two-week funding rounds using quadratic funding (QF) to boost support for public goods projects that the community cares about. With quadratic funding, each donation (big or small) acts as a vote that amplifies the project’s match. The more people who contribute to a project, the larger the matching amount will be!
For GG19, GoodDollar plans to participate in the Climate Solutions track, which features a matching pool of 150,000 DAI to fund initiatives tackling climate issues.
In the meantime, here’s how you can prepare for GG19:
- Set up your Gitcoin Passport by connecting your funding wallet and completing a series of tasks to verify your proof of personhood. Only those with a Gitcoin Passport score of 20 or higher can participate.
- Gitcoin Grant’s Climate Solutions round takes place on Optimism. In order for your contribution to count, be sure to bridge your ETH to OP Mainnet.
2. Do More with Your G$ in November’s Brand New Savings Challenges
What if we told you that you could earn rewards just by building sound financial habits with your GoodDollars? Starting November 9th, we’ve teamed up with HaloFi to bring you not one, but two new savings challenges for you to unlock rewards just by saving your G$.
The two new savings challenges include:
- Daily Savings Sprint: Make your first deposit within 24 hrs of Nov 9th and continue saving the same amount of G$ daily for a week. At the end, you can withdraw your total deposits + earned rewards.
- 15/15 Savings Challenge: Also starting on Nov 9th, you’ll have 15 days to make a one-time deposit of G$ into the savings pool. Keep your deposit locked in for 15 days, after which you can withdraw your principal amount + earned rewards.
3. GoodDollar Joins the Glo Consortium, Enabling Swaps Between G$ and USDGLO
GoodDollar is now part of the Glo Consortium, making it seamless to swap between G$ and USDGLO on Uniswap, and enables mutual support for UBI transactions and initiatives.
Here are some ways you can provide liquidity to support:
- Support UBI liquidity & try swapping on the G$ <> USDGLO pool on Uniswap (Celo network) today
- Support G$ and DeFi by supplying liquidity to the G$/cUSD and CELO/G$ pools on Uniswap
4. Application Deadline Extended to November 17th for the Prosperity Grants Program
ICYMI, The Prosperity Grants Program kicked off Season 1 in early October with 422,106,128.145 G$ ($75,000 USD) of available funding distributed across four grant categories to support builder innovation using GoodDollar in the Celo ecosystem.
We are still accepting applications and have extended the deadline to Nov 17th.

Ecosystem Stats
GoodDollar’s ecosystem saw these additional updates as October came to a close:
- Total Number of New Users (since Sep 2023): 14,000+ new users have started claiming G$ UBI
- Total Value of G$ P2P Transactions: Approximately $6.26M USD
Lastly, G$ continues to hold the title for the top ERC-777 token transferred in the last 7 and 90 days, as seen in this Dune dashboard by ilemi.
Ecosystem Wide Updates
- Meet GoodDollar ambassador Bertrand Juglas and Frank, along with GoodDollar Community Moderator Steve, at ETHCameroon, in Douala, where Bertrand + Steve will lead speaking sessions about GoodDollar.
- Proposal GIP 14.2, an amendment to GIP 14, which aims to increase UBI distribution on the Celo blockchain, was passed in October.
- Phase 1 of the proposal to implement G$ as a gas token on Celo was also passed in October.
