U.S.-China Trade Down $38.5 Billion, Hurting Both Economies

Trade between the United States and China, the world’s two largest economies, fell sharply in the first nine months of 2019 amid the unending trade war.

U.S. imports from China plunged from $395 billion in 2018, to $342 billion. In September alone, the U.S. imported just over $40 billion worth of Chinese goods, down from $50 billion in 2018.
