The Devfest — By GDG New Delhi
So, this is all about DevFest19 which was organized by GDG New Delhi. It was a special event for all the developers since it encouraged them to learn more, share more, and develop more.
This year’s DevFest had tracks like AI/ML, Mobile, Web, Cloud, Design, AR/VR, Pro as well as on pursuing a career in these technologies. This year, the venue was at The Westin Gurgaon and the timing was 9.30 in the morning. We were super excited for the event and when we finally attended it, the experience was beyond expectations!
One of the interesting facts about this year’s DevFest was that out of 4000 developers who filled the form, only 1300 were selected. There were 10 co-organizers, 120+ active volunteers, 8 informative tracks along with 45 amazing speakers which made DevFest19 even more special to attend.
Different Tracks, Different Talks
At DevFest19 Delhi, we had a total number of 8 tracks which were AI/ML, Mobile, Web, Cloud, Design, AR/VR, Pro, and Grow your Career. We had our opening keynote at 10.20 in the morning and we had our last session which was ending keynote, at 4:30 in the evening.
Networking (Smile and Say Hi)
Since the developer crowd was huge, we were encouraged to say hi to each other with a smile. We also had interaction with each other in the lounge area. We interacted with people who brought different perspectives to the table which sparked bonds with the potential to last forever. We were able to make new connections which will sooner or later help in establishing ourselves as among the best developers of India.
Speaker Hours
Tracks were happening simultaneously so it was impossible for anyone to attend all of them. Therefore, we were directed to attend only those tracks where we have our most interest. Speakers were changing quickly right after their sessions since, time of every speaker was limited so they were not able to answer all the questions asked by the developers, for that speaker were given a separate room where attendees could interact with them before or after their session.
Good Food, Good Life
DevFest was blessed with absolutely genius speakers, highly-talented volunteers, amazing attendees, and tasty food. This was more than enough for everyone. In the morning, we had tea, coffee, and biscuits for breakfast. In lunch, we had different varieties of food available for all veg and non-veg lovers as well as also for those who were keeping Navratri fast. Sweets were the add-on in the lunch. In the evening, we had tea, coffee, biscuits, and sandwiches. This is it for the food section.
Photobooth
We also had a photo booth where everyone was clicking their photos. Special boards were available for photos having tags like GDG New Delhi, GDG Cloud, Devfest 2019, Coding is my Cardio, Programmers Are Here, Women Techmakers, and of course how we can forget the cap with “Main Bhi Developer” print. Everyone was looking so happy while clicking photos with their friends or we can say with their developer friends.
Activities
Activities are the main part of any event. In every event, one time comes when you start feeling low while seating for a long time so at that time activities are used as fuel to refill the energy. Here are some glimpses of activities performed by the GDG New Delhi Team and all the attendees.
Community Partners
For making this type of big event successful communities play a vital role and this time, community partner were AeoLogic, JSLovers, Women Who Code Delhi, Sheroes, FB Developer Circles, IDF-New Delhi, WiMLDS, React Delhi NCR, Pyladies Delhi, Script Foundation India, TechTalks, ODSC, AnitaB.org, PyDelhi, Design Gupshup, Kaggle Delhi Days, GDG New Delhi, WTM New Delhi, GDG Cloud New Delhi, and GBG Delhi. It was great to be a part of this Devfest.
Swags
How can one ignore this? SWAGS! We were given T-shirts, Plantable(eco-friendly) Pen, Plantable Pencil, Lots of Tech Stickers at the event. We love it! These were one of the most inspiring and encouraging things which we collected at the DevFest.
Ending Keynote
Every GDG has its ways of performing ending keynote but GDG New Delhi has a special activity to do. And every attendee is part of that activity, it is their way to build a relationship with each other. Here is the activity in which the biggest tech wave is created by more than 1000 developers.
