I am proud to share that Google Cloud Developer Community New Delhi just hit 3000 members on its Meetup Group. It is an incredible feat for the community considering we just started connecting a year ago. Here is a snapshot of achievements this past year:

  • Community outreach of more than 1100 people
  • 9 unique in-person events and 1 online event
  • 16 reputed expert panelists (of which 5 were first-time speakers)
  • Events and discussions spanning across the Delhi NCR region

But this is not entirely about what the community has come to accomplish during the year. It’s about what we can achieve together as a community of technology enthusiasts. Here is to celebrating the enthusiasm and dedication of our community members who have come down to each event and made it a fantastic learning experience for all, both attendees and organisers alike.

I would also like to thank all the speakers who took out the time from their demanding schedules to share their knowledge, experience and, love for technology with our dedicated members. The community has also been fortunate enough to have had support from peer communities across the Delhi NCR region who’ve always come forward to share their experiences. I am also extremely grateful to Google for its constant guidance and mentorship.

While everyone has appreciably contributed to this success, it is also distinctly attributed to these people who come together every time to make each event a possibility. I can’t thank them enough:

Siddhant Agarwal — Program Coordinator, Developer Relations, Google. Siddhant founded the community and he was also the Organiser for the community before me. It was under his leadership that the solid groundwork on which this community stands, was laid. Siddhant has also been an exceptional mentor and his counsel has always helped us plan better events.

Sakshi Shukla — Research Intern at IIT, Delhi, and Lead, Women in Machine Learning and Data Science, Delhi chapter. Sakshi has published multiple research papers in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, especially within the domain of Natural Language Processing. She has been actively contributing to communities for the past 3 years. Her work in helping women achieve success in the tech industry is worth applause. Check out her YouTube channel here.

Amen Tyagi — Product Designer at Eduwaive Foundation. Although Amen has been in the community circles only for little more than a year, he has made a significant mark for himself. He has been strenuously contributing to FIVE communities across Delhi NCR, to a point that his work is almost an established brand that speaks for him. All the creative media for GDG New Delhi, WTM New Delhi, and our community have hefty contributions from Amen. Read here as he talks about his journey with communities and more.

Vishal Bhardwaj — R&D Software Technical Lead, Keysight Technologies. Vishal has brought over a decade of experience to the table and has been a guiding light. He is a facilitator for the community and has also served in the role of a co-organiser.

Ajeet Singh — Student at Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Technology. Ajeet has input extensively to the creatives. All the speaker posters and many more creatives have been a result of his artistic channel.

Finally, I would like to thank you, the community, for giving us the opportunity to organise these events. It has been your zeal and eagerness to learn, that has kept us going as organisers. It is you who make the community experience lively. The joy of your success and gratification works as motivation for the organising team and keeps the energy high. Your continuous feedback always pushes them to do better each time. We truly recognise this, therefore, thank you!

If you likewise believe that the community has had a positive impact on your life, the community organisers are looking for stories to share. Write your story in comments, email at gcdc.nd@gmail.com or DM any of the social media handles. Reach out and voice your story! Even if you remotely have a story to tell about the community, please share.

The upcoming event is a celebration of this achievement and the community’s first anniversary. It is also an attempt at giving back by the organising team. The event will be held on the Saturday, May 25, 2019. Please register here: https://www.meetup.com/gcdc-nd/events/261143974/.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Best,
Pranay Nanda
