What is Duet AI

In simple Duet AI is a suite of generative AI tools that help users of all skill levels be more productive and creative. It is available for Google Workspace and Google Cloud.

Duet AI in Google Cloud is an always-on collaborator that offers generative AI-powered assistance to a wide range of Google Cloud users, including developers, data scientists, and operators.

To provide an integrated assistance experience, Duet AI is embedded in many Google Cloud products

How to use Duet AI

Default Duet AI is not enabled for all users and projects. We have to follow certain steps to enable Duet AI.

Apply for Duet AI access

You or a team member (such as an administrator) can apply for access to Duet AI.

• To apply for access to Duet AI, fill out the application form.
• If you’re accepted, you receive an email with instructions to submit the ID of each Google Cloud project that you want to use Duet AI with. After you submit the required project IDs, you can proceed with the remaining steps in this document.

Activate Duet AI

To activate Duet AI in a Google Cloud project, an administrator needs to enable the Cloud AI Companion API and grant the Cloud AI Companion User and the Service Usage Viewer Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles to users.

What Duet AI can Do?

• Writing: Duet AI can help you write emails, proposals, reports, and other documents. It can also help you brainstorm ideas and generate creative content.

• Duet AI with BigQuery: Duet AI can help you analyze your data,write queries, and identify key trends and insights.You can provide Duet AI a natural language statement (or prompt) to generate a SQL query based on your data's schema. Even if you're starting with no code, a limited knowledge of the data schema, or only a basic knowledge of Google SQL syntax, Duet AI can suggest one or more SQL statements.

• Coding Assistance: Duet AI can help you write code, generate code blocks, and complete your code while you write.Whether you are writing apps, calling APIs, or querying data, Duet AI can help complete your code while you write, or generate code blocks based on comments. Code assistance is available in multiple IDEs such as Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ, PyCharm, GoLand, WebStorm, and more), Colab for Enterprise, Cloud Workstations, Cloud Shell Editor, Cloud Spanner, and BigQuery. Duet AI supports 20+ programming languages, including Go, Java, Javascript, Python, and SQL.

• Quick Assistance in Cloud Console: Through a natural language chat interface, you can quickly chat with Duet AI to get answers to cloud questions, or receive guidance on best practices. Duet AI is specifically trained on Google Cloud content like docs, sample code, and best practices to help serve our users better. Conversational assistance is available in Console and IDEs such as Visual Studio Code and JetBrains IntelliJ, via the Cloud Code extensions

Duet AI is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we work. It can help us to be more productive, creative, and efficient, and to achieve our goals faster.
