Health checks in Google Cloud
“Health checks“ can mean different things when applied to software, hardware or infrastructure. Generally speaking, a health check is a kind of method or a function that helps to track a general state (a.k.a. health) of the underlying service. The service can be a hard-disk, a network bridge, a compute rack or a cloud service (e.g. GKE).
For example, Google Cloud advertise the current state of its service and further lets you to gain visibility into service disruptions impacting Google Cloud products in your projects.
In addition, Google Cloud provides multiple health check types to help you tracking the state of your workloads and automatically remediate incidents using Google Cloud built-in methods or SRE practices.
