With the long weekend stretching ahead of us it’s the perfect time to hit the road, and soak up those last summer days. If you can’t pack a bag, crank up the radio and roll down the windows, allow us to take you on a virtual road trip in Google Earth’s Voyager.

First up, get your kicks on Route 66 with an interactive tour from Google Arts & Culture and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. We’ll take you to 10 of the most noteworthy spots — including a ‘Cars’-themed, vintage service station and the Blue Whale of Catoosa.

Can’t get enough roadside attractions? You’re in luck. Journey across the country to see some of the strangest stops on the open road. Have you seen the world’s largest rocking chair or a gas station shaped like a teapot? Take a look!

For those looking for a more literary excursion, follow in the footsteps of Sal Paradise, the semi-autobiographical protagonist in Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road.” From the Big Apple to the Mile High City to the Big Easy and back again, you’ll get a crash course in the beat generation with Sal and his pals.

Finally, what better way to spend a long weekend than in one of the country’s majestic national parks? Join park rangers on a journey to five parks across the nation and get a look behind the scenes that most people never get to see.
