As Event Manager for Google Earth Outreach, I’ve worked behind the scenes to bring nonprofits, scientists and other changemakers together for some truly amazing events with a big focus on making them sustainable. Events create a space where we can deliver trainings on new mapping tools, listen to inspiring stories of impact, and find new ways to collaborate and make progress on some of the biggest social and environmental challenges facing our planet today. Events are a vehicle to kickstart new partnerships and projects or unblock a path forward with interactions with each other. Last year, like so many others, we pivoted to digital events and rethinking how we engage with our community.

We created a one-stop digital events hub at earthoutreachonair.withgoogle.com, where we’ve been hosting regular trainings and events for nonprofits, scientists and changemakers. You can choose to register for upcoming events and watch them live, with the opportunity to ask questions directly to the technical experts behind Earth, Earth Engine, Plus Codes, Environmental Insights Explorer and more.

All events are archived and made available for on demand viewing at any time. Some of our recent events available include trainings like Getting Started with Earth Engine and Data Visualization in My Maps but also opportunities to hear from researchers and nonprofits using maps for good. For more of the latter, check out this interview on wildlife conservation in India with Madhu, founder of Nature Conservation Foundation.

Another recent training focused on how nonprofits, scientists, and other organizations can create maps of their photos from the field.

We’ll hope you’ll join us at some of our upcoming events in March, including a live Q&A with the Earth Engine team coming up on March 17. You can head over to earthoutreachonair.withgoogle.com to see all upcoming events in March and join our Earth Outreach Announcements list to be notified when future events are announced.
