Are you looking for a new challenge? We’re growing the Android Media team in London, and are looking for enthusiastic engineers to work across a number of projects.

Our framework sub-team is responsible for some of the key media components within the Android OS. These include MediaSession (through which an app can allow control of its media playbacks from surfaces such as Android Auto and Google Assistant) and MediaRouter (which underpins Cast and other smart home media experiences). The framework team is also shaping the future of foundational components such as media parsers. We’re looking for both engineers and a technical lead manager to join the team. Experience developing operation systems or media frameworks would be a huge plus, but is not required. The team develop in a mixture of Java and C++, and we’re interested in Rust too.

Our playback and editing sub-teams develop support libraries that allow app developers to build great media experiences for Android. The playback team is responsible for ExoPlayer, which powers billions of media playbacks across hundreds of thousands of apps every day. The editing team is working on new support libraries that’ll make it easier to build powerful media editing experiences for Android. We’re looking for engineers to join both of these teams. The teams develop primarily in Java, with some Kotlin for demo apps.

In all of these roles you’ll have the chance to work on open source projects that are used by billions of people every day. Contact me directly if you’re an engineer ready to make a big impact!
