GSoC Week 2 @OpenMRS

The second week of GSoC is over. In this week i had the chance to speak with my mentors in a video call. We talked a bit about the module and how it work and what we need to focus on in this project. They explained me in detail every aspect of the UI and answered every question about it.

We decided to focus to focus more on thumbnail component, because is the principal element of this module. This component show us our data and make us able to interact with the attachments. In the thumbnail at first we have 3 elements: date (time when the file was uploaded), preview (a small image of the attachment if it is an image or a specific thumbnail) and the description.

I created the base functionality and layout of these elements, for preview it is clickable but i does nothing for the moment, it will pop up a full representation of the attachment or will let you download it if it is not an image or something that can be viewed in the browser. The date for now is just plain text, it will probably show the times passed from the upload time if it is less than a specific time. And the description allow you to change it if you click it by showing a input element and a button, the buttons layout are not finished yet but the button for cancel works well. The description also highlight like in the old UI. In the next week i should create a way for the thumbnail to get the informations and i should work on the confirm button and the full preview when the preview is clicked.

It was a great week and i learned a lot and more important i have a clear path to walk on. See you next week.
