Cascais Ambiente partners up with GoParity for exponential impact generation.
More and more, the power to drive the change we need to see in the world is in the people — citizens around the world can impact the cities and municipalities they live in. We cannot and should not rely solely on the world’s leaders to act but also join the movement. Changing some of our daily routines can be a good starting point.
Cascais Municipal Council is doing something innovative to take action in this sense: by implementing a smart recycling option that offers rewards as one recycles. These are then redeemable through the Citypoints mobile application, managed by the municipality to promote a healthier lifestyle in a fun and double-beneficial way — benefitting the 🌍 and the👫 who recycle, too.
The department responsible for this pilot project, Cascais Ambiente, thus, challenged GoParity to be a part of this initiative by being one of the rewards featured in the app. We obviously said “Yes, please!” and sold the municipality over 200 gift cards.
When we asked Cascais Ambiente why they had thought of us for this challenge, this was the answer:
“In 2021, we submitted an application to the EEA Grants to implement a pilot project that aims to prepare municipalities for the future beverage container deposit system in Portugal, the iREC — Inovar a Reciclagem.
In addition to the placement of Reverse Vending Machines by the Cascais municipality, the purchase of incentives to promote the participation of the local community was also planned. It was when researching ideas for sustainable prizes and local experiences to reward users of the machines that we found GoParity: an innovative platform to support the creation of businesses that respect the planet.
We didn’t think twice: in addition to promoting a national project that encourages the crowdfunding of sustainable business ideas, we are able to raise awareness among residents and empower them to be agents of change. “
It has been a pleasure for us to be involved in such a fun, smart way of promoting recycling in a municipality. It would be great to see more municipalities join this initiative, because when it comes to climate change 🗣 “the more the merrier” has never been more true and now isn’t soon enough. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
