This fall there are quite a few time-travel shows coming out, yet NBC took the risk and decided to follow their initial instinct with the sci-fi adventure series “Timeless”. The reason why NBC went along with a time-travel show, although they are in trend right now, wasn’t so they could rival the other networks and their time-travel extravaganzas, but because they believe they have an excellent project worth presenting it to the audience. By joining forces, co-creators and executive producers Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan were able to make a show different from the rest, while the cast members, including Goran Visnjic, Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, and Malcolm Barrett, brought live to the characters and contributed for the final result, which is a fun and thought-provoking series with dramatic twists, and layered characters.

Both of the series producers are industry vets, and with “Timeless” they decided to throw all stereotypes out the window, and create something unique, yet simple enough for the viewers to follow along. The premise is promising and appealing, and even from the pilot episode you can see that the network has invested a lot of effort, and has put a lot of thought into this project. Thanks to the structure they’ve set up, every week there is a different story with every episode, which makes “Timeless” seem like its own mini-movie. A lot like Legends of Tomorrow, each episode is in a different time period. Although the entire series has an underlying tone, still there are plenty of fun moments. Goran Visnjic, the well known actor who plays the Garcia Flynn, the series villain is also surprisingly layered.

The way Goran Visnjic carries himself as Flynn, makes the villain feel more human, easier to relate, and even feel compassionate and sympathetic The trio send by the government to find and eliminate him is also versatile, and brings a lot to the overall story. After the series premiere on Monday, October 3, the reactions have been nothing but positive, and the studio seems to be entirely behind this project.
