There’s nothing like a good recommendation to find a great book. If you consider yourself a public speaking guru, then you’ve probably got a few recommendations under your belt.

But have you read the top-recommended public speaking books of all time?

We’ve tracked down the top titles ever—straight from sources like Amazon and Goodreads. Check out our list to see if you’ve read all six books:

1. The Art of Public Speaking — Dale Carnegie

This one is a classic — and written by the same motivational thinker who wrote the famous How to Win Friends and Influence People. Dale Carnegie applies many of the same inspirational ideas to public speaking: how to be confident onstage, project positivity, know when you’ve practiced enough for a speaking engagement, and find success by believing in yourself. This book may have been written in the early 1900s, but its message is still relevant and inspiring to modern readers.

2. Talk Like TED: The 9 Public-Speaking Secrets of the World’s Top Minds — Carmine Gallo

This world-class speaking coach knows everything there is to know about TED talks and how to give a great one. @carminegallo has written for publications like The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Forbes. Now this book is his comprehensive guide on the best TED talks of all time and nine simple public speaking steps anyone can master. Gallo has analyzed hundreds of TED talks and interviewed the most successful Tedsters of all time to put together this book. It’s definitely worth a read.
