7 Back-to-School Tracks to Add to Your Technica Playlist
As we begin a new school year, most of you have probably already found some boppin’ hype songs to get you through these long days and help you stay motivated through the even longer nights. Maybe some feel-good singalongs for those late-night study sessions and some bangers for those lit nights with friends. If you haven’t found anything, worry not. We have compiled a list of seven great and empowering back to school songs for you to start or add to your playlist for this school year.
At Technica, our mission is to empower women in tech, so we hope that this list of songs by successful women in the music industry will give you some inspiration (or at the very least, a bomb playlist).

1. “God is a woman” by Ariana Grande
What is there more to say? Queen Ariana is back, having recently dropped her album Sweetener. “God is a woman” is her second single off of the album and it’s a fantastic anthem to follow up “no tears left to cry.” In the song, she owns her sexuality and oozes the type of confidence every young woman, especially in college, should have. We stan.
2. “I Like It” by Cardi B
What’s a boppin’ playlist without Cardi B? In addition to busting out chart-topping tracks, she continues to help change the hip-hop game by being unapologetically authentic as a female rapper in the industry. Her song “I Like It” highlights this attitude as Cardi raps about her luxurious lifestyle and about being an overall boss. This track will have you wanting to drive around town in a new Lamborghini and throw stacks of cash out the window.
3. “Hot Pockets” by CupcakKe
Much like Cardi B in “I Like It”, CupcakKe also embraces herself in “Hot Pockets” as the confident gamechanger in the rap industry. You already know a song titled “Hot Pockets” is going to be good. It even includes this iconic line: “I’m feeling blessed like a f****** ’Achoo.’” Here’s to a semester filled with hot pockets (both of the cash and of the microwavable food variety).
4. “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” by Dua Lipa
This next song you may have already heard since Dua Lipa released it back in 2016. But how could we leave it off the list? “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” is a solid bop nevertheless. She sings “If you don’t like the way I talk, then why am I on your mind?” with a sass that’ll make you want to strut down the streets of Los Angeles. Dua Lipa says herself that this song is all about “being happy in your skin and being proud of who you are.”
5. “APESHIT” by The Carters
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are back. In “APESHIT,” the Carters flaunt their wealth and status as the music industry’s royalty. Bey’s powerful vocals and Jay’s smooth verses together make a solid track worth blasting in the car. Another reason to add this song to your playlist? It’s by Beyoncé, arguably one of the most influential women in pop culture.
6. “Chun Li” by Nicki Minaj
Adding to the pool of talented and influential women is Nicki Minaj. In “Chun-Li,” she raps about being one of the first female rappers to rise to the top in the rap scene despite all those who doubted her. With a bouncy and rhythmic chorus, “Chun-Li” successfully makes itself out to be an empowering yet hip track that will last well beyond the semester.
7. “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper
The final song on our list is a classic throwback. “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” embodies the fun, female spirit of the 80s which still exists in the youth of today. This Cyndi Lauper classic is perfect for both a lit night out or a nice girls’ night in. This is a great weekend anthem, so stay up late, have fun, and turn up the music!
