I Was SO Wrong!

I thought that almost all of the people who voted for Biden would vote for Harris. Wrong. So far Harris has gotten about 15M fewer votes than Biden did in 2020. Millions of Biden voters stayed home rather than vote for Harris.

I thought that many of the people who voted for Trump last time would defect to Harris. Wrong. So far, Trump has gotten about 3M fewer votes this time, but they did not defect to Harris. They just stayed home.

I thought inflation was the major issue and that since it had come back down, much of that problem had been defused. Right about partially defused. Wrong about it being THE issue.

Like for Brexit, immigration/the border was the factor that was really motivating the pro-Trump voters and Harris did nothing to defuse it.

Hate, fear and dreams of revenge against the “bad people” worked for Hitler and, sadly, they worked for Trump, along with racist and misogynist assumptions/attitudes — “She just doesn’t seem like she is strong enough to be our President. We would rather have the lying, Russia-loving, mean, dishonest felon.”

The second biggest loser, after America, was the Ukraine.

Russia was the big winner.

Sorry my predictions about this election were so horribly, terribly, perhaps foolishly, wrong. Very bad days are coming, and we did it to ourselves.
