Why MAGA People Believe All Of Trump’s Outrageous Lies

MAGA people LIKE being angry and LOVE the thrill of imagining Trump punishing the people he has told them to hate

No, The Gov’t CANNOT Control The Weather

When I heard the Republicans’ latest outrageous lie that Biden has control of the weather and that he created hurricane Helene to punish the Red states, I thought, “The Republicans are so whacked out now that even the people who were for Trump would question voting for him.”

MAGA People Will Believe ANY Lie Because They Enjoy Being Angry

But I was wrong. Millions of people believe that crazy lie. Millions of people also believed the massively obvious lie that FEMA has no money to help storm victims because Biden gave it all to illegal aliens.

I asked myself, “How could American adults believe such obvious insanity? How could they be so stupid?

People Want To Believe Lies That Make Then Feel Good

Then I realized the answer. Humans believe outrageous lies because they want to believe them.

  • Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet wanted so much to believe Madoff’s lies that he refused to listen when he was told that that Madoff was running a ponzi scheme. He lost $1.4 billion of his family’s money and committed suidice.
  • Partners want to believe their spouse who claims, against all evidence, that s/he is not having an affair.
  • Parents want to believe their adult child who swears that he didn’t commit the crime they’ve arrested him for in spite of the video showing him holding the gun.

Lies are so attractive because believing them makes us feel better than not believing them. We want to believe lies that keep us from feeling bad, and we even more want to believe lies that make us feel good.

For Some, Anger Is An Enjoyable Emotion

Some lies make us angry (FOX’s business model), and for many people anger is an enjoyable emotion.

Lies that feed our anger and thrill us with fantasies of revenge are some of the most attractive lies of all.

Angry people like to nurse their anger, feed it the way a camper tends a fire. They keep it going because it warms them and, in a perverse way, anger makes them feel good.

Anger is addictive, and like heroin, angry people want more of it.

Lies →Anger →Hatred →Power

Hitler figured out how to use lies to gain power almost a hundred years ago:

  • (1) Identify what people are upset about: inflation, unemployment, Germany losing the WW I,
  • (2) Find someone to blame: all of it was the Jews’ fault. Blame the Jews. Hate the Jews.
  • (3) Promise to fix things and punish the bad guys: I will punish the Jews. I will make them pay. I will get rid of them and then everything that you don’t like will disappear.

— How many Germans bought Hitler’s lies about the Jews because they wanted someone to blame and the Jews fit the bill?

— How many Germans bought Hitler’s lies about the Jews because believing the lies made them feel good?

— How many Germans enjoyed hating the Jews?

— How many Germans loved the thrill of seeing the evil Jews being punished?

The overwhelming majority of the German people gave their country to Hitler in exchange for the promise of money, prestiege and revenge, and look what that got them.

I will make Germany great again.” How did that turn out for Germany?

Trump Uses The Same Play Book

I will Make America Great Again. How will that turn out for us?

  • Step 1: Identify what lots of people don’t like — crime, inflation, taxes, hurricanes, whatever.
  • Step 2: Blame the bad things on some target group that the unhappy people are ready to believe is evil — the Democrats, the elites, the media, Biden, the illegals
  • Step 3: Promise that if elected, Trump will instantly fix what is wrong and punish the bad people who caused it.

Whatever you don’t like, it was caused by the Democrats, the elites, the media, Biden and the illegals and all you have to do is elect me and I will punish them and fix it immediately.”

It’s an old play book but Trump and the Republicans are making it work.

Unhappy People Want Someone To Blame, Hate & Punish

Trump figured out that large swaths of the American people will eat that up because

  • They want someone to blame.
  • They enjoy being angry
  • They enjoy having a villain to hate.
  • They especially enjoy imagining the people they hate and blame being punished.
  • They love imagining what it will be like when Trump dishes out their revenge and everything is wonderful again.

Everyone Wants To See The Bad Guy Die At The End Of The Movie

They’re like the people in the theater lusting for the hero to empty his machine gun into the villain at the end of the movie. Yeah! Kill the bad guy. Yeah! We want to see him bleed. Yeah!

They want their hero to ride in on the white horse at the head of the cavalry and massacre all the bad guys because then their lives will be great again.

It feels so good to imagine Trump crushing the villain they are anxious to believe that the accused people really are a villain.

It feels so good to imagine Trump taking revenge on the bad people that the MAGA Republicans are primed to accept his claim that the enemies really did do the terrible things he accuses them of.

What’s Going To Happen Now?

So, today the questions for us are:

  • How many Americans are blaming everything in their lives that they don’t like on Trump’s designated enemies?
  • How many Americans are enjoying hating Trump’s designated enemies?
  • How many Americans are loving being angry?
  • How many Americans are addicted to the anger and hate?
  • How many Americans get up every day excited by their anger and hate and the thrill of imagining Trump’s promised revenge?
  • How many Americans will vote to turn the country over to Trump so that he can punish the bad people and make their lives wonderful again?
  • How many Americans know how terrible Trump is but won’t vote for Harris because they don’t like her enough?

Now, ask yourself: Who are really the bad people?
