What exactly happened?
As we’re all aware, ChatGPT has been wildly successful since its launch on Nov 30, 2022.
We’ve all seen the messages that their servers are at capacity, and they need to scale.
According to this article, it’s cost roughly $3 million per month to keep ChatGPT running.
Within two weeks of its launch, ChatGPT introduced its amazing conversation history as per its release notes.
And then, on Jan 10, 2023, they took it all away 🥲

Maybe not all of it away! But we all lost our conversation history. And this has caused somewhat of a mutiny in their discord channel.
How can you recover your previous conversations?
Per a post in their #announcements discord server, it looks like this “might” be a temporary thing. So we have some hope that the conversations may come back if we’re to rely on this announcement 👇
How do you protect this from happening again?
While there is no way to protect this from happening again, one can take some safeguards like using full-screen screenshot software. I know that can get tedious, but it is the only option now.
