Not Feeling The Love

A Poem

The air is crackling around me

With the anger unleashed

From millions of souls

Not feeling the love these days

Man-made idols are worshiped everywhere

They are as old as humankind

Some of their names are Money, Power, and Nationalism

Not feeling the love these days

Being different is demonized

Labels are applied to de-personalize

Encounters become confrontations

Not feeling the love these days

There are more human islands than communities

Talk of the common good is greeted with skepticism

Many only listen to what they want to hear

Not feeling the love these days

Climate change talk makes some uncomfortable

So is ridiculed and/or dismissed

The impact left to future generations to pay the price

Not feeling the love these days

Once again we are talking, talking, talking about police reform

The many among the police officers who strive to serve and protect
